Fedor and the UFC

June 22nd, 2009 · No Comments

Perhaps the biggest question ever in MMA history. Will Fedor go to the UFC?

I know to the naked eye it might seem like I’m always the first to jump on Fedor’s ‘dick’ if you will, and “oh Fedor this” and “oh Fedor that” but not being just a UFC observer, and seeing all of the great talent around the world, saying that Anderson Silva is the best fighter in the world is a little bias, because Fedor is. There is no other way around it. He may not be our p4p fighter based on the fact that he fights twice a year, but if it were based on skill, he’d be cemented at the top.

Fedor is riding the greatest winning streak in fighting sports history. You could make arguments that Anderson Silva’s run is impressive, Wanderlei Silva’s five year reign in Pride, hell Mike Tyson’s run in the eighties. The thing that separates Fedor from them all is that Fedor has demolished everyone….EVERYONE in his division for basically eight years (since he started), and not a few years like Anderson, and he didn’t have his streak stopped like Wanderlei or Tyson. Josh Barnett will be his final test outside of the UFC at the upcoming Affliction Trilogy card August 1st …..but after that what’s next?

Now, bringing you all back to the question at hand, will Fedor go to the UFC? I agree with the fact that if he doesn’t his career is somewhat tarnished for not going to the biggest organization, but I think career wise it would be best. He can fight the remaining heavyweights and beat them and finish his career without question that he is the greatest MMA fighter of all time, let along best heavyweight.

What does he have to lose? He has DEMOLISHED the last UFC Champions that have been on the opposing side of the ring to him with neither getting out from the first round. His popularity would grow if he were to fight in the UFC, because fans need to be introduced to the human who is closest to a machine.

If joining the UFC, Fedor would have at least 5 good fights for his career. Lesnar, Mir, Velasquez, Carwin, and the fight against Randy Couture. If he were to conquer the UFC Heavyweights, without a question he would be the undeniable best. If he stays out of the UFC, who is left after Barnett? Gegard Mousasi is the only fighter that comes to mind, and that fight is probably unlikely as Mousasi fights 170-185…..fighting a 230lbs Machine would be a huge step and demand.

Dana White’s stubbornness is the no other. Let the guy fight in Sambo matches, in return you get the best fighter in the world, and you can basically eliminate Afflictions competition. Not only will he fight your heavyweights, super fights can be arranged, with guys like Lyoto Machida and maybe even Anderson Silva.

I have a strong feeling that after Barnett if Fedor is successful, I can see the best heavyweights in the UFC leaving, because soon being the one beating Fedor will come higher than being a UFC champion, if that’s not already the case today. Not saying that the UFC heavyweights stand a chance against Fedor, but Carwin and Lesnar have a punchers chance, and Mir would be the biggest test with his high level of BJJ.

So basically what I am saying is, Dana get Fedor. You’re looking like an idiot saying he’s overrated being that one fighter is basically your biggest competition and he’s demolished everyone from your division to step up against him, and pretty much finished their careers (Sylvia lost to Ray Mercer in 9 seconds, Arlovski lost to Brett Rogers in 26 seconds). Work out a contract and let him embarrass your division, so you can quickly jump on his dick and say he the greatest when he’s on your side. C’mon, I know you want to……….
